The Shelbourne Bar is a traditional Irish pub nestled in the heart of The Victorian Quarter of Cork City since 1895. It is renowned for its friendly staff, great service and most of all, for its extensive Irish whiskey range.
The Shelbourne Bar is a traditional Irish pub, which opened its doors in 1895. It was originally two bars of equal size, divided by a pillar which you can still see in the middle of the bar counter. Up until 1996 the side of bar where the fireplace resides was called ‘An Síol Broin’, which translates from Irish to mean the ‘seed of the womb’ or the ‘seed of life’. In 1999 the two bars merged, creating one bar now known as The Shelbourne Bar.
The Shelbourne boasts the largest selection of Irish whiskey in Cork City with over 170 different choices to enjoy from all styles and flavour profiles. They have won the gold medal at the Irish whiskey awards for the best Irish whiskey bar in Munster. Each whiskey has its own story and their knowledgeable bar staff are always delighted to share it with you. They also offer a selection of Whiskey Boards and Whiskey Flights designed to meet the needs of all whiskey drinkers; whether it’s your first time tasting or you fancy yourself as a whiskey connoisseur.
